Hi Bryan,

I would of once suggested you use the slow charger, but in the light of
my recent experience with a fast charger I would now say use that. The
fast ones tend to be the clever ones, using some sort of full charge
detection which prevents their overcharge.

Ensure that the fast charger is one of these types (DeltaV or DeltaT),
rather than a simple time based charger and you can be sure the
batteries are charged perfectly to peak capacity everytime, irrespective
of how much charge remains. The slow chargers tend to be of the type
which relies upon you to assess how much charge remains in the cells and
to switch them off at the appropriate time.

Also, cells should never be left on a trickle charger as a means to
maintain them ready for instant use, this is a certain way to destroy
them. If you really must have them kept in a condition ready for use,
then use a time switch. I now power my trickle chargers via a 24 hour
time switch, set to come on for 1 hour per day with 19 hours rest.
