Well, Harry, we used the Primus stoves in the Army during the war using
petrol which was the only fuel easily available. It was probably a bit
risky but we had no accidents. Had to watch when you opened the little
valve to let the pressure out or you could get a plume of flame from it.

There was mention of acetylene gas in a former post. Five lads here
decided to make a bomb using a 2 litre plastic Coke bottle, filling it
with acetylene from a welding cylinder. They wanted to make a big bang
without doing any damage. It certainly worked but not in the way they had
expected. It was much, much better than they had hoped. It blew out all
the windows in the shed, blew the door off its hinges and smashed the
windscreen of a car parked next to the shed. They lost most of their hair,
two had perforated eardrums and one nearly lost an eye. All five finished
up in hospital!!! Must be a story there somewhere!! Why am I
laughing?????? I ought to be ashamed of myself!!!!!
