Hello Ian and The Omega Man,
Sorry 'bout the movie title. (;->) I haven't said all that much because
I'm a bit out classed (for a change) by quite a few more knowlegable. I
have sent quite a few bulls however on this and a variety of subjects.
There's a whole lot of interesting (maybe not to you) things going on,
maybe you have one of those communications breakdowns caused by faultline
packet forwarding. (Thanks for the new application of the term.)
Being the Earth itself lends itself readily as a propagation medium,
extreme high power isn't needed. Well, that depends on what tou call
"extreme", the Omega system (as far as I know) used power in the 100KW
range, the same as the average SW broadcast transmitter.
BTW, the GWEN frequencies are classified, so there is no way of knowing
whether or not your frind confused the two. Maybe you should ask him?
(;->)
Frequencies in the high audio range are unlikely to cause earthquakes,
big hi. I think those are called P waves (?) which are subsonic. Any
geologists out there?
YUP! The American Indians were the first seismologists! By putting the
ear to the ground, preferably a large, imbedded rock, one can hear the
pounding of horse's hooves for miles. A later variation was putting an
ear to the railroad track. In the days of steam the pounding of the
drivers could be heard at an even greater distance because steel conducts
sound much better than earth. I wouldn't try that with today's Diesels
and electrics!
Oooey gooey was an Injun, a dumb Injun was he. He put his head upon the
track, the train he did not see. OOEY GOOEY!
