Hello Bob and all,
I think we have pretty much figured out what a lid is, but one sticky
point remains.
Please stop saying I keep associating lids and landline. This is not
always the case, I remember when there were live telephone operators to
be reached by dialing "O". They were highly trained and competent
operators and could be reasoned with, well, most of the time anyway.
Today they have been replaced by mindless computers which run me around
in circles dialing a number for this and a number for that and in the end
I hang up in disgust. Now THERE'S a LANDLINE LID for you!
OK, seriously. you refer to sysops who use landline over radio who may be
like that lady with the headset on sitting at a TSPS board, or mindless
computers. I believe we know the difference between a good sysop and a
landline lid, so let's not be so single minded, OK? I have repeated this
in one way or another from the start, I hope it sinks in this time.
Never the less, I'm an Amateur RADIO operator and use the telephone as
intended. (;->) Number pleeaus...
