One comment I head many moons ago, as a larger nipper, that a visitor
from the topside commented, it was one of the few places that stone
floated (pumice), wood sank (ironbeech - this I've had to cut with a
hacksaw!), and th waer went down the plughole the wrong way!
Another (who became a resident) got a shade overdosed on the local
brew, and was witnessed bent double, looking at the moon between his legs,
commenting, "now it's the right way up!"
Interestingly, in N.Z., an earlier neighbour, who was involved in
speedway racing, and toured nationwide often, commented on the fact that
up the north of thr Nth Is, the sum went down about 8:30 - 9:00 pm,
whereas in Invercargill, bottom on the Sth Is, when racing finished round
10:00 - 10:3O p.m., the would light the barbecue, for a late feed, &
within 10 15 mins it was pitchblack. (1600k further from the equator; next
stop, Antatctic home of the 6 mnth night.)
Isn't trivia fun??
