Hi Peter (meow),
Now we get back to the origin of that mains plug thing. This time for 
once I'll be serious and quote a sign in a shop where I once worked. As 
for assembling N connectors and such, if all else fails read the 
instructions. We all have to learn and the best way is the strip chart, 
NO, not the one in the girl's dressing room!
Oh, if you just happen to think THAT'S stupid, you should have been in my 
shack when an FCC field engineer (engineer?) tried to screw an N plug 
into an SO-239 socket on the back of the rig! I had to show another how 
to use a spectrum analyzer on another job, but he's excused, it was a 
brand new unit he was unfamiliar with. After all was said and done, we 
managed to trace the source of that elusive third harmonic and cure the 
neighbor's TVI.
BTW, the stupid one is now pushing pencils at the office in Baltimore!

Oh, what is that cat doing in Hell? I always thought the expression was 
"doesn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell", but no telling about the 
Brits...
