Ian, it doesn't become dark at 4 p.m. in the Aussie summer. Where I am (in
the south) the sun sets at around 6.30 p.m. in the summer and darkness
falls at around 8 p.m. In winter the sun sets at around 5.30 p.m. and it
is dark by 6 p.m. Further north things are different but nowhere in OZ
would the sun set at 4.00 p.m. summer or winter. I must add however that
the extreme south of Tasmania might be closer to that time than on the
mainland.
