Well here in the UK , Methylated spirits is a mixture of Ethanol, Methanol,
Something that tastes very nasty and also usually a blue dye, whilst Methanol
is known as wood alcohol.
Our Methylated Spirits very readily mixes with water, put the two next to
each other and it very difficult to stop them completely mixing.
A Methylated-Spirit/Water mixture can easily be set alight and continues
to burn until all the Meths is used up. An interesting experiment that
I performed when I was a child was to mix equal quantities of Meths and
water, soak a handkerchief in the mixture and then set the hankerchief
alight. It burnt happily untill all the meths was used up but never burnt
the handkerchief itself, the water kept if from burning.
I would have thought the "Warren the Magician" would have known that party
trick !!

A much better way of using that methane is to use it to fill balloons and
use it instead of Helium. Although 4 times the density of Helium, Methane is
still half the density of air so quite usefull in that respect. Some of the
methane could of course be used for forward 'motion' ! - Just think, self
powered meat transporters !!
