Well, I'm G0TEZ but my name is Ian so, maybe Dick has me confused with
Harry, M1BYT. I did bring in Boyle and Avagadro, so he probably means me.
I thought about looking at the whole things in reverse and bring old Isaac
Newton back in.
As I'm sure you remember,he said. The gravitational attraction between two
bodies is directly proportional to the product of their masses and
inversely proportional to the difference between them.
Let's take the Earth and a balloon. or two baloons, one filled with
hydrogen, the other a lead balloon.
The attraction betwen the lead balloon and the Earth will be far greater
than the attraction between a thin skinned hydrogen balloon.
Therefore the lead baloon will head rapidly for the ground while the
hydrogen ballooon will head upwards to where the air has the same density
as the hydrogen + balloon fabric.
More a matter of what the Earth pulls downwards than what gas pulls
upwards.
BTW, What's Einstein got to do with all this? I must have missed that
one.
Or are we getting on to balllooons travelling near the speed of light
now?
