HI, I may be duplicating as I missed a few bulls due route being down for
a few days.I seemed to recall the term "plug top:,so checked our local
hardware stores and supermarkets this morning .I found plug tops in two
brands,(thats what the card read anyway).One was a standard rear entry plug
,
the other a rear entry figure 8 cover,incidentally still having the third
pin,A glance at an old catalogue lists "power points","surface sockets",
"3 pin plugs","line sockets".also IEC "line plug","chassis plug","chassis
socket",line socket".Current catalogues refer to either IEC chassis
connectors ,line connectors,chassis plugs,line plugs with male or female
specified. I havent seen the "piggy back" combinations advertised for
several years,they are still fitted to some appliances etc,but moulded
type,so not so likely to be misused. Some plugs and sockets used on
lighting circuits were similar to the 10 and 15 amp type but had a round
earth pin so they couldnt be used for the other purpose.
