Sorry Hank, you got it WRONG!
By default Microsoft Outlook at least by default opens email in a
preview window along the bottom of Outlook. For your own safety you need
to turn this feature off.
I use Outlook XP and I have disabled the preview pane, I also take the
precaution of not opening any unexpected email with attachments or mail
from dubious sources. I have used Outlook for a number of years and
never suffered any viral attack as a result of its use.
