Hi Gordon and motorheads,
You did an excellent job of describing the selsyn system! I have
excellent "visual conception" so I seldom need someone to draw me a
picture.
The ARRL handbook, eh? That among other publications was the basis of my
education in radio communications, but being I have a fairly current
edition there is nothing said about the older technology. Now if thier
information on construction of VHF antennas was easy to understand as
your description of the selsyns I wouldn't be having so much trouble
getting a good 6M antenna together!
The wire dipole was a disaster! It just didn't follow the rules and I
gave up in disgust. I ended up buying a beam just for the aluminium
because a dipole is the only type which fits in with the sort of mounting
arrangement I'm stuck with and the LANDLORD. I'm now using a completely
redesigned version of the driven element and gamma match. Just call me
Hacksaw Harry, not to be confused with that guy in the Texas chainsaw
masecre or Jack the ripper. (Except when I'm ripping cable.)
BTW, please be reminded to add some beer to your winpack.sig file, plenty
of cheers but no beers! (;->)
