It (the Beeb) needed to be that. The initial cost here was around $3000
compared to $600 for a Commodore which did almost anything anyway.The
Commodore had several levels of Word Processors, the most sophisticated of
which was easy to use but yet could handle more processes than any other
WP I have used. The FORMAT command was most useful. I have not found it in
any other system since.The cost of the BBC led to them being relatively
unknown here except in the West Australian State Schools. For education at
our level they were not all that good. The Apple had much wider use here
and had ore software available.The Commodore was also very easy to network
in a classroom.
