Andy,
I saw your recent message. In my original message I gave the version of
ZA. It is .......zlsSetup_61_744_001.exe
There is certainly an incompatibility somewhere. With all my stuffing
about I had to clean out ZA and start again. I tried the previous
version.....
zlsSetup_61_737_000.exe which I had retained from earlier.
This installed OK again and is the one that I tried to update.
I would certainly be interested to know if you can install this latest
version or not in your W98 machine. Incidentally it does install in W2K on
the same machine but a different drive (physically not just partition) on
the old W98 drive. The computer is otherwise the same for both.
I will try the next version put out by ZA on the W98 drive when it becomes
available. Zone Labs advise me of updates automatically so I will know
next time it changes, very promptly. They may put out another version of
744. Note that the final suffix of the one that I tried is 001. I
downloaded it on 28/03/06, but forgot to install it until recently. I got
it again and installed it on W2K on 01/04/06. In each case the download
was done using the operating system that I install (Or not!) it on, though
I dont find this makes any difference as it is a full download of the
program so doesnt detect the different OS.
Incidentally I tried the 737 and 744 downloads both as an update and as a
clean install. Of course, with the latter I then had to restore all my
settings
Otherwise I agree with you!
