I once repaired a similar problem by using a sewing needle to replace the
broken pin. I cut it to length, ground the plating off, then soldered it to
the stub. Another way might be to put a series of the turned pin type sockets
one on top of the other to get the height, then finally solder the upper one
directly onto the plug in board.
