The only advantage I can see is the saving of a bit of bandwidth at the
expense of having to change every bit of terminal software and 99.9%
of bbs software.

I can't see it happening - not enough demand.

Hardly a revolution or a network saver.

In other words - I'm not against the saving of bandwidth (which would be 
dumb) but just being pragmatic about the real world.
