4.4 Network error 10055 [to summary]
In Windows 95/98, this error may occur if you need to increase the maximum number of available TCP ports. To increase the number of available ports, you will need to add or modify a value in the registry.
Execute "regedit.exe".
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP
Windows 95
Create a new DWORD named "MaxConnections". Set its value to something higher than 100 (Hex 64). 100 ports are default.
Windows 98
Create a new STRING named "MaxConnections". Set its value to something more than 100, e.g. to 256 (100 ports are default). After restarting Windows the problem should be gone. These changes affect only the TCP/IP protocol!

In Windows NT this step isn't necessary. Make sure you have enough RAM as well as virtual memory (1 GB min for NT, 2 GB for Windows 2K). MaxConnections defaults to 12,800 for NT or 25,600 for 2K.
