Greetings Dave
Any computer new enough to run WinXP should allow the following.
Restart your computer and enter the BIOS (usually accomplished by holding
the "delete" key at bootup).
Find the section dealing with system bootup order and set it as follows
1st device CDROM
2nd Device FDD
3rd Deviace HDD-0 (HDD-1 in some cases, whichever is lowest available)
Turn off other boot devices and disable "boot from network device" or
similar.
Place WinXp disk in the cdrom and start machine. When you are prompted to
"press any key to boot from CDROM" do so and follow the prompts.
You wil be able to partition (should you choose) and format/install from
that point by reading and following the prompts.
