You've got to remember that OEM sellers licence the OS from MS etc. Most
of them then tailor the OS for their own purposes, which they're are
allowed to do by MS etc.
This is why they don't just supply a MS disk with their machines, and
later on when the system is older you can't get drivers for indivual bits
of hardware.
Their `doctered' OS is usually configured to run on their machines and is
also configured to check out the computer when it's installed, if it
doesn't meet certain requirements it's just bombs out.
It the big sellers way of making people upgrade the whole comp, rather
then just upgrade bits at a time and thereby extending the period between
buying a new computer.
It's much better for individuals to use a basic OS install disk and get
the drivers for the various hardware as and when they need them.
Usually it's not worth bothering with OEM disks, they're more trouble then
they're worth.
