Hello,
I'm investigating the possibility of setting up a small packet BBS, that
will emulate a website...allowing the viewing of "pages" with HTML and
images. I'd like to have the server initiate a download when a user connects,
kinda like when a person connects to a website. This would be more desirable
than having a person connect, download files, then dig them out for
viewing. I'm interested in an RF only site, not looking to do any sort of
Igate.
If I can get this operational, my intentions are to also put this on an
HF band (in addition to VHF)...probably 10 meters where 1200 baud operations
could be accomplished.
I have a lot of experience with HTML/CGI/Website development, so I can
support the site build. I also have a lot of RF experience with the packet
radio BBS, DXCluster nodes, and APRS, so I can support the RF/TNC build.
What I do need, however, is some direction on how to accomplish this
task with the server aspects of the project. Can anyone help point me in the
right direction?
Is it possible to do this with a conventional packet terminal program,
pointing the source code at a standard desktop browser such as Netscape or
Internet Explorer, or would it absolutely require an OS like NOS/JNOS?
Again, any help would be most appreciated!
