Hoi To all Hewlett Packard scanjet 5P users:
I bought a few Years ago my scanjet 5p for over 325,- us dollar with it was
supplied the software picture scan (version 3??) when i bought it the
salesman said to me it's a 1200dpi scanner to my supprise it could only
scan colour photo's in 200dpi and after printer to scanner callibration it
wet to 300dpi but the foto's were not correctly scanned (too light) only
black and white photo's could be scanned with 1200dpi.
After some years i upgraded my system and win '95 came in place of the 3.11
version although the scanner worked correctly it still didn't go further
than 300dpi.
Then i heard about new software for the 5p 'desk scan' and that would allow
you to upgrade your system to win'98 and scan with more dpi
So the first thing i did is phone to hp in the netherlands after being send
to a lot if different people and phone numbers i still was'nt anny wiser
So a bought a phonemodem and looked on internet to my supprise i had to pay
over 40 us dollar to get this update for a program smaler than 4Mb !
A lot of other company's make cheaper scanners and do not charge annyting
for their upgrades...why HP asks for it i don't know...
So i invested my time in finding the program in the i-net without having
to pay for it and i did.... it took me only 30 minutes to download the
stuff
Now I can scan 1200DPI in 24bits colour in win '98 and have the correct
coulours when i print the page (yes it's a HP600 printer)
Do NOT try to calibrate printer/scanner, hp could'nt even get that working
correctly for $ 40
Iterrested WHere to download the software ? just give me a re: and i'll
tell you were and what the passwords are....
