GPS et LAPTOPS

It is my understanding that the GPS1 or 2 (Byonics) may work usefully with
a laptop in car. But, i am not familiar with the setup procedure and i
would be very grateful for some guidance on the setting up of such with
Linux Kubuntu 8.04 flavour?
It can be used with Microsoft Autoroute and Xastir 1.9 and also UIV32,
whilst its necessary to enter Lat/Lon into the programs, on the move it
apparently updates the location accordingly.
