You obviously didnt follow the message thread or read the message
properly, no supprise there then..

The ip address from the isp is the one that was changing, A static ip
does away with the problem and NO it dosent cost any extra if you use an
isp that has any idea what its doing.

pete then asked about the router and if there are any settings that can
be changed in the router, I replied that it depended on the make / model
of the router, some have a keep alive setting that will try and retain
the connection to the isp and hopefully the ip address, NOT all routers
have that option.

So that PROVES you didnt read the message thread / messages properly, it
was clearly stated that the IP address keeps on changing, they already
use dyn.dns or something simalar to update the address, but the ip
address is changing so often the dyn.dns system couldnt keep the address
up to date often enough, what I said was to get a static ip address and
have done with it as that is the easiest fix for all the problems he is
having, but then if you had read the message properly you would have
known that, instead you jump in and try to be clever when all you do is
show yourself to be a berk

> The ISP will normally change IP's every 8 hours or so,

depends on the isp, blueyonder/virgin media use dynamic addressing but
many customers keep the same ip addrress for months at a time.

BT uses dynamic ip addressing. my BT ip address changes maybe once /
twice a month, sometimes it dosent change at all. But rather than rely
on dyn.dns or one of the other offerings it is easier to use an isp that
provides a static ip address, There are several that do and most of them
dont charge any more than for a dynamic address.

it just shows you to be a berk that dosent read the messages properly or
follow a message thread.

once you learn how to do that, then you may start to make sensible
replys to messages, but somehow I doubt it.
