Andy is quite correct. I had both lenses replaced with plastic lenses by
the method described. After about 12 months I noticed blurring of vision
in the left eye which was the first one with an implant. The specialist
told me that scar tissue had formed and he blew a hole in the tissue with
a laser restoring clear sight which is now still 6/6 on a test two weeks
ago. The laser treatment took place in a room at the local hospital and
occupied about 20 minutes. It is now about 6 years since I had the first
implant and I can still read the whole of the test chart.
