Hi and thanks for reading.

A friend has an opel astra 1999 with some slight damage ( scratches ) to rear
door and has been told that he must disconnect Battery to de-activate air bag
system before removing the door for any repair and then it will have to be
connected to the computer to reset the system at a cost (here = 20 euro )
He says taking off the door for repair would be best option ? not with all
these problems Hi !!!

Not sure myself as all my data on cars is way out of date, but it apears a
little daft to me when he says if you disconnect battery even to fit a new
one Etc, then you have to reset the system and it costs you every time ?

My data says you can disconnect battery and an internal battery will hold
data but it fails to say for how long, that makes more sence as a main
battery change would only take a few min.

Anyone know how long the battery can be disconnected for before you would
then have to have the system reset by the dealer and his PC ?

Doubt anyone knows where to obtain data and leads etc for a DIY Job But ???

thanks again for any replies.
