It just so happened that I signed up for it last night and have had a wee
play today. As I was told by another ham, it has less advertising than
Yahoo and consequently runs faster on my dial-up access. I currently use
Yahoo mail but can't seem to figure out how to create a mailing list with
Gmail, handy for emailing committee members.

I assume the code you refer to is related to the inviation scheme. When I
first googled for gmail I saw a reference to New Zealand not needing an
invitation, and sure enough I didn't, so just signed up all by myself.

73 David.
