With my Packard Bell notebook "Easy One Silver" I was quite happy - upgraded
HD recently etc.

All of a sudden, the background illumination of the TFT screen went dark -
you may see "shadow" of some displays although but small details are not
readable. An external screen works perfect! But is very space and power
consuming.

I'ld like to repair the fluorescent tube/driver to make it shine again. Is
there any helping info available:

   a) where to send to and what's it's rough cost by time and money?

alternatively "do it by myself":

   b) how to open the screen frame?

   c) where to get a ( principal ) schematic?

   d) where to get spare parts for such an "old" type of notebook?

   e) any "how to do" hints?

Any advise is appreceated to get my notebook back to work for my
packet/pactor station.
