Hello all.
Many thanks to Mike, UA9CIR, (SP sent) and Darrel, VE3DDG, for the help with
our AEA PK-12/88 problems. I think Edison will get his software, and I will
have a backup for my PK-88 TNC. My PK-88 EPROM failed when a diode at a
voltage regulator common terminal became open circuit. This caused the
regulator to 'not' regulate! and more than 12 volt on a 5 volt line killed
an EPROM, a 7910 decoder, and an 8530 UART. All but the EPROM were in my
stock, and five letters, with stamped envelopes enclosed, failed to raise
the interest of original supplier and other possibles.
This seems to be par for the course when something is bought these days,
but I suppose we are lucky having Amateur packet to get help. And also,
I suppose the internet should be the first place to look. I haven't used
'ebay' which gets my son his computer and model train goodies; is this a
possibility? If packet is dying, where are all the unwanted TNCs?
73. Dick. VK3ABK.
