The muting is only for your benefit. The Mute boxes on the Playback
Control simply dictate what is heard via the PC Speakers/Headphones.
Obviously, to record the Mic Input on the soundcard, the Record Control
needs to have the Microphone box ticked - On that screen, you can only
tick ONE box.

On the Playback Control, you can tick as many as you desire.

Oh, that doesn't happen on my system. Go into Options on Skype, goto
Hands/Headsets tab and disable "Automating Sound Device Settings
Adjustment"... If it's already un-ticked, then I'm stumped.
