Hi Pete and the fully charged,

THANKS! I see someone finally agrees with me and has the data to back it 
up. Yes, the shack PSU is the best charger for reasons stated and the 
original questioner has seen it. 14.4 seems a bit high to me but 
acceptable as long as charging is discontinued when the battery is topped 
off. Just to restate my backup is a 100AH battery permanently connected 
across the main 13.8VDC regulated bus.
