Properly recharging a lead acid cell is quite a complex task. They suggest
that it should be charged at around 14.4v until fully charged then the voltage
dropped down to 13.8v as a maintenance charge.
Some of the better modern automated car battery chargers manage to do the
above, but what should never be used is a basic charger containing just a
tranformer and a rectifier.
