Close.

ATAN was the correct command, but then I had all sorts of fun using it
to derive anything sensible until I realised that Excel gave the
answer in radians which I then converted to degrees by (180/PI)*radians.

I had 5 different spreadsheet programs and they all did things different
including completly non standard commands.

No wonder I was confused ;-)
