Hi Andre and others,

I wonder if your problem could be the same as one I encountered a couple of
years back with my TS 430.

In my case, I noticed that, in addition to the S meter reading full-scale,
the display was dim.

I traced the problem to the input capacitor to a 5 volt regulator on the IF
board. The 1uF capacitor (C118, 1uF/50VW electro), although measuring 1uF,
had gone high-Z and was not doing its job.

Because the capacitor was high-Z the regulator was "taking off". When viewed
with a CRO the 5v line showed about 4v DC with around 2v P-P of RF at about
500kHz. The 12v line was "alive" with this crud and this was radiating back
into the rig via the antenna at sufficient level to pin the S meter.

Maybe this will help you solve your problem.

Regards - Ray
