Pinoak requires that you use a modified SCS PTC-II, which, once modified,
is useless for anything other than the Pinoak system. They won't even undo
the modification. As the original poster has a KAM, Pinoak won't be an
option for him. (Just as well, in my opinion)

Exactly right. He would need to purchase a controller that is useless
for anything other than Pinoak. All the other SailMail providers I'm
familiar with use off-the-shelf PTC-II as their "preferred" controller.

Some appear to support PACTOR as well as PACTOR-II.

Didn't find any that support CLOVER or CLOVER-2000, but only
spent 10 min. or so doing the search, and did not do specific search
for CLOVER or HAL.

Subject: Digipan 1.2 Tx/Rx switching

Can anybody give info on the possibility of reducing the delay when
switching from Tx to Rx on Digipan 1.2. From Rx to Tx is no problem
but Tx to Rx is slow and if any other macro or whatever is attempted
before changeover is completed, various oddities may occur. If the
delay is necessary, why so.
Cheers from 3D2BA.

it all depends on your definition of "low bit rate". Anything under
megabit is, by my definition, noise. I look at megabit radios as
being low bit rate.

that's the way it is but is not the way it has to be. There are
several radio clubs my region (PARC, BARS, MMRA to name a few) but I
don't go to the meetings. Heck, even in clubs I am active in, I don't
go to meetings. granted I'm a poor example, but I believe that it is
possible to change that behavior and demographic.

well actually, it was his screwing someone else that got me where I am
today. Although, he did have an ugly tower in the backyard which was
used for a wind generator back before they were "popular".

I think I fit the definition of an aging, overweight white man with an
ugly tower in the backyard play with low-tech radios (and some
high-tech radios) better.
