Subject: Portable - TNC / Radio
Hi Hugh,
I would like to use this portable rig for packet radio and APRS. I have a
couple of handheld PDAs (HP200LX,...) that I could use as a terminal.

Subject: What software to choose
Den replied:
I use TrueTTY for RTTY and PSK-31. It is great for RTTY but lacks a bit
on PSK-31 recieive in noisy conditions. I like the convienince of just
one package. The author also wrote Logger which works with TrueTTY. For
PSK-31 there are better performers: Digipan, WinPSK, WinPSKse etc.
For Sat tracking there are a number that are good. One of the best is
SSTPlus @ http://www.dransom.com/ designed to track the Shuttle it
does a nice job on Amateur sats too! also shows grey line etc...
Also check out : http://celestrak.com/ a bit more complex but another
nice sat tracker. There are more....
Obviously you will need more than program... I find it fun to have as
many as I can and compare them!!! You didn't mention a logging program
but you should consider one of those too! There are MANY. I use LogEQF
.. it does almost everything a logger should and I have been using
from the days when there were very few to choose from. I like its
simple interface... some of the Windows loggers give you too much
information!
You also may consider more than one computer..... I find 2 is the
minimum.... one for logging and one for tracking or PSK etc. I have
three networked together @ Command Central.... at times wish I had 4!
G'luck in your search...

Subject: WONDERFUL!
I just found the coolest site on the web that I want you to check out. It's
called Soundom.net and it's a company that pays us do what we are already
doing: listening to music! Thats right, Soundom PAYS US for listening to our
MP3s, CDs or Internet Radio. All we have to do is download the Soundom
Application or the Plugin to Winamp, Windows Media, or Sonique (others are on
the way). And they pay in US DOLLARS that we can spend anywhere, not vouchers
or some other internet currency. Best of all, you can earn additional money by
referring people to sign up for Soundom!
Just when you think it could not get better, it does. Soundom also pays the
artists every time we play them, just like a radio station would. So we're
supporting our favorite artists just by playing their music.
Soundom is launching the program later this summer, and is going to be rolling
out on a first come, first served basis. So check it out at
http://www.Soundom.net
