Hi All,
A couple of questions.
Are there any e-mail lists out there for PSK31? I looked on QTH.NET
and didn't find any.
I downloaded TrueRtty which has PSK31 and I have a Soundblaster 512
Enviroment card. my question is how do i hook up the kenwood 950 for
psk31?
anyone?
I saw this mode of operation and found it amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

You may want to check out the program Zakanaka for PSK. The list is very
active with lots of good info and support for PSK. Zakanaka is free
(currently Beta 11) and works very well. This is a full featured sound card
type program. It also interfaces with the Logger program (also free) from
the same author. Well worth taking a look at!

Chuck,
There is a PSK31 e-mail list. You can join by sending an e-mail to
Majordomo@aintel.bi.ehu.es and putting "subscribe psk31" (no quotation
marks) in the body of the e-mail.
I have used several PSK31 programs, including TrueTTY, SBWPSK31 (I think
I got that right), Digipan, WinPSK, and Mixw32. Personally, I prefer
Digipan and this is what I use most of the time now, but of course this
is just my personal preference.
I am running PSK31 with a Kenwood TS-850, and it works very well. I use
the Rigblaster interface (http://www.westmountainradio.com) and it works
very well. It also works well for other modes such as RTTY,
Hellscheiber, SSTV, etc. You can also make your own interface.
Basically, connect audio from the rig to the soundcard input. I connect
the line-out audio on my Timewave DSP-59+ to my soundcard line-in. You
may have to experiment and try the soundcard's mic input to get enough
level.
The soundcard output can be connected to the audio input on the 950's
accessory connector, but this will not key the rig's VOX. If you connect
the soundcard audio output to the mic jack, you should use an attenuator
(probably about 100:1) to match the impedance and levels. With the
Rigblaster, you can just connect the soundcard output to the Rigblaster,
connect the Rigblaster to the rig's mic input, and connect your mic to
the Rigblaster. You have the option of PTT keying or serial port keying.
I use the serial port keying, although either works fine.
Be careful not to overdrive the transmitter. I run no more than 40 watts
output, which is plenty for PSK31. I usually run about 25 watts. You
should not drive the transmitter into ALC action.
Let me know if you have any questions or if you need more information.
There are plenty of hams using PSK31, especially on 20 meters. If you
would like to make a sked, let me know.
BTW, the same interface setup you use for PSK31 also works for several
other modes. You might want to check out the Hellscheiber modes; they're
also a lot of fun. I recommend the IZ8BLY software (check out
