pursuing their avocation at home by local actions which impose
significant application fees and restrictions which do not, as the
federal regulations require, reasonably accommodate the Amateur Radio
service.

Please support the enactment of SB-1714.

G'day & Greetings!

I've used both CW and digital. [1200 and 9600 bd. sats packet and pactor I]

There is still, I think nothing, quite like the skill and pleasure of a good
CW
qso-mine was a cw qso via oscar 13 sending a message from a daughter to
her father on the otherside of the world in hospital.

Im am now not active, but if I were to go on air again it would be using CW.

Let us not flame each other but respect our differing interests.

Subject: Field day review (MixW rocks)

Hi all, I had an interesting field day.

Tried to run PSK31 at club site and due to major problems with QRM
that I feel were not any fault of PSK31. I packed up my station and
setup at home running 1E.

Got a late start because of the QRM problems above but still managed
86 PSK31 and 21 RTTY.

I was running MixW 1.42 software and must say this software rocks!
Don't let the somewhat spartan GUI fool you.

MixW has lots of contesting futures, requires minimal disk space. It
also supports other modes like RTTY.

I found it very interesting switching between running PSK31 and RTTY
- I only had to make one small change to the audio output setting on
my laptop to work RTTY after PSK31 and found the operators running
RTTY were going at a amazing pace. It was fun trying to keep up and I
think a lot of PSK31 operators could learn a trick or two watching
some experienced RTTY operators go at it.

I think PSK31 showed great potential, the fact that it can work with
minimal power and antennas makes it very well suited for portable use.
I used 100% emergency power for both radio and laptop (3 HD batteries
no charging during FD) and had hours left in each battery.

BTW I ran only 12 watts output on PSK31 and abt 25 on RTTY for all
contacts with a simple wire ant.

What's next? NTS???

I will have to try and write a proposal on NTS or NTS like messages
using PSK31.

That's all for now,

Line input works fine, but there's a bug (IMHO) in smmixer which won't
allow you to set the input gain level for the line input, and by default
it's set very low. I have a patch for smmixer here. Email me if you
need it.
