If "reverse engineering" means using the same software and hardware,
of course, that's against the law as it should be.

No, I haven't. If a patent existed I would not be free to build my
own decoder. Where's the ham radio in that?

OK, that sounds reasonable.

No that is not true. Even with a patent, you are free to build your
own decoder. You may not be free to sell it to others.

I want to connect my CT-17 to my computer using a USB>Serial port converter
on a Belkin Hub with 2 serial ports.
Anyone else done that? Did it work & are you a happy camper?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Are there any commercial cables available to connect these two? I was sent
a MFJ 5065YH but that does not have the correct TNC connection.
I will be connecting the KAM to my computer using a USB>Serial port adapter
on a Belkin hub. Anyone else done that? Any problems? KAM says it should
be OK
I have PacTerm 98 ordered. Will that work OK with this configuration as
well?
Thanks

Dunc,
We've tested the USB interface in house and it works fine with Pacterm '98 and
the KAM. To both of them, it just looks like another serial port. The Belkin
hub, as the Entegra, works fine if the USB interface on the computer works
fine.
I'd recommend setting both the KAM 98 and Pacterm '98 at 9600, since that's
Pacterm' default. If you need any addtional help in setting it up, please call
us at 256-381-6100. My tech guy Bill (WD4HEN) is there M-F 8-5.

Thanks Rick. I appreciate the offer. Didn't expect to hear back from the
real authority! HiHi
Hopefully by this time next week I will be up & working.
Did you test it with the logging & Wefax programs as well? I have ordered
your Digital Trio from HRO and am waiting for it
