K4CJX, suggested that I should upgrade out of the 'Horse and Buggy' days
when I mentioned my misgivings. The PTC-II is around $950, and the PTC-IIe
(economy) is $649. I paid $265, 1 year and 4 months ago! Still a New Horse
and Buggy to me! New COMPLETE HF Stations are available for less than that
$950! The price for this controller seems Very High to me! New Pentium III
Computers aren't much more!

And I guess that Windows is also the ONLY way to Compute! Go and ask Bill,
he'll confirm that!

Yah right!

Smarter, and wiser, but disappointed!

There are still quite a few of us on HF with various protocols, including
CLOVER, PACTOR-I and PACTOR-II who run open systems, available
to anyone who wishes to use them. In my case, it is a node, available only
using CLOVER on HF. From the node you have access to the PNW packet
network, with various BBS systems who would be glad to support any
activity you might like. Other systems are available on PACTOR, e.g. n7qdn.

Frequencies on my web page, if you want to try CLOVER ...

The land line lids are "winning" ... if you let them ...

Yes, more Hams seem to be using PSK31 (or even PSKHELL) modes for keyboard
to keyboard QSO's. I suspect that since you can get on PSK31 or PSKHELL by
simply using your computer with a sound card and FREE software may be the
reason. (By the way, PSKHELL is a better mode than PSK31 for really weak DX
QSO's!).

But I still prefer Pactor 1 with its ERROR FREE copy. (I even prefer AMTOR
over PSK31 with its almost error free copy)

Subject: Skysweeper software

I have tested for some time the brand new skysweeper software
(www.skysweep.com).
It seems to work fine atleast with CW, RTTY, PSK31/QPSK. I had to test it
with .WAV files (only signal input from file
is allowed in demo mode)
Have anybody tested the registered version? How it does perform in real-time
environment?
