You could try http://www.qrz.com

I don't know if this is possible, but if you have the RS-232 interface for
the 940 and some was to modify your PSK software, you could switch modes
when you go from RX to TX. I did this with some custom PSK software and my
Kenwood TS870. I switched between SSB for TX and CW for RX. It was a little
easier on the 870 as you have to compensate for the CW offset when switching
modes. On the 870, the pitch is set digitally, so it was easy to do. On the
940, the setting is a knob and I'm not sure how the settings compare to the
offset frequency.
On the 870, I found that when the other signal drifted badly, the audio AFC
would often move the signal outside the 50 Hz passband, so I had to open up
the filter. Finally, I ended up modifying the AFC to adjust the VFO to keep
the other signal centered in the passband. The only problem was that my TX
signal would also change so we could end up chasing each other. I never got
and further than that, but I would probably have been better to adjust the
RIT rather than the VFO.
A less elegant approach on most radios is to operate split. Set the RX to
use CW and adjust the frequency for the CW offset. Set the TX to use SSB.
The only problem is that RX and TX won't track each other.

P.S. I just recently fired up my old 940 (16 years old and it's still a
great radio) and I will be putting it on PSK once I get an interface built
(it's not difficult, I've built several, it's just a matter of finding time
<g>).

Subject: Setting up a packet Gateway/BBS???
I have been on packet radio for a while now but would like to try something
new. I am interested in setting up a packet gateways and bbs system. I
have a tiny-2 TNC (KISS compatible), VHF radio, ADSL internet connection,
and a PC (P133 32MB RAM, 2GB HD, SB16 Sound card, with WIN98). I have done
some research and think I know the basics. I am a computer tech so I do
have some networking experience. I am wondering what is the best software
to use to set up such a system. Any pointers would help. I would prefer
windows or dos software but I do have a similar configured system running
redhat 6.1 but I am still learning Linux :-) Thanks for the help.

Subject: Y2K glitch in DOS version of PcPakratt program.
Hi gang,
This may already be known but, there is a glitch in the DOS PcPakratt
program. Apparently, when you start the program, there is an error message
that states simply "Bad" but gives no other description. I have determined
that the error is due to the date setting function of the software. I
believe that the computer sends 00 or some such date to the PK-232 which, in
turn, returns an error message as 00 is not a legitimate date to it.
I simply hit a key and the program appears to function normally. I have not
looked at the date in the 232 after I start the program, it's probably
wrong.
This post is to simply make this error known to those of you who haven't
discovered it yet. It does not appear to constitute a serious problem.
73, good luck and Happy New Year <grin>
