Subject: INFO: KPC-3

Hi fellow interested Digitalis... oops that's, Digital folks!

Looking for information on the following for the Kantronics KPC-3 with Ver
6.0 firmware:

Size and type (number) of the firmware EPROM... for obtaining and burning
myself.

Size and type (number) of the RAM chip... increasing the memory to 128k or
512k.

Looking to upgrade and, is "Build my own and modify" the equipment,
acceptable in this day and age of Ham radio?

Kantronics firmware is COPYWRITED, Burning and or copying the EEPROM is
a Violation of that copywrite and subject to procecution.

Plug your record player into the line-in and use something like Adaptec's CD
creator deluxe.

Subject: The future

Hi members of the lists

Just a note about what I plan for my amateur radio station over the next
few months.

Some of you already know I plan to setup a packet BBS but I would like
to find out what you a user of packet wouyld like to see given my
interests.I plan to make the station as user friendly as possible so
give me a few ideas that you as a packet ham can use via packet
messages.

I plan to have a system which runs FBB and APRS and perhaps UI-View as
well on a Windows 2000 system.I would like to be able to setup mailing
lists which users run for packet on my BBS so that all members can
automatically subscribe or unsubscribe to or at least get a listing of
the available ones.If APRS data can be forwarded I would like to enable
users to send the station a message with a certain command in it and
then receive the APRS data they asked for.The station will strive to be
a gateway to the internet as well so that epople can submit requests via
email and receive the results via packet or email or whatever other
services are on the BBS system.I can say that the system will be running
on Windows 2000 as this is the OS most of the developers have used and
therefore there are allot of apps for Windows as opposed to
Linux.Considering I also have a serious interest in computer security
and hacking I would also like to have a system which has as many of the
network tools as possible so that for instance a user in California can
do a trace route and find out which packet stations were used to get to
me in Simon's Town South Africa.I would also like to for instance do a
ping on packet radio to find out how long a packet takes to get to its
destination. The system will also be a general storing place for
documents that folks can download over packet or email.

In conclusion, with the severe move to wireless communications by the
commercial industry I think us hams had better start finding ways around
the problems I am sure are going to crop up and get any commercial folk
off our frequencies especially 2m and 70cms.This system although it
seems commercial is purely for ham radio and if inroads are made into
this service by commercial companies the service will be shutdown as it
is for non -profit.

Give me some ideas of what you are looking for and a way to accomplish
them and I will certainly give a it a bash.Otherwise if you do not know
how then send the idea anyway as I am sure in the future I can find a
way to do what you want.

Regards
