Subject: KPC9612 and Kenwood TM-V7A

Does anyone have any suggestions or information about using the Kantronics
KPC9612 with a Kenwood TM-V7A?

I want to set this up so that 1200 baud runs on 2 meters and 9600 baud runs
on 70cm using this TNC/radio combination. Is this possible/practicle?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Could your receive tones be inverted? Try switching sidebands (from lower to
upper or vice versa)

Subject: Pactor and FT-847 and PK-232? PROBLEM SOLVED!

Problem solved. Kim, WB4LZQ had run into this problem before and
recommended I reduce the value of the coupling/blocking cap
recommended by Yaesu. They recommended 10 uFd. Reducing this to 0.22
makes it work well. Apparently the larger value results in a large
time constant slowing the PTT action, and reducing it speeds things
up. Got similar advice from "Billy" on the FT-847 bulletin board.

Thanks for the help, guys.

I contacted N1RCT about the error messages when accessing his web site.
His reply:

Hello Bill .. I have never heard of such a problem .... My
ISP goes down for a while particularly on weekends, maybe
that causes a problem? Hope you had a good Xmas .. 73 de

So, please try again. The address: http://www.megalink.net/~n1rct/

And click the Psk31 box. Works for me.

I was advised that an email that I sent earlier contained
the virus HAPPE.EXE. You may have been infected. The site
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/fix.happy99.worm.
html contains a program that will remove the virus from you
system.

Do not execute HAPPY.EXE. REMOVE IT.

(Thanks to Tim, KG2NO, for the removal link)

Sorry for any inconvenience. I have no idea how this
occurred.

I can tell you: you received a mail from a friend, and it had
an attachment named "happy99.exe". You ran it and it displayed a
fireworks display. You thought "nice gesture", but from then on it
sent the same message to each friend you sent a mail and after each
newsposting you made.

Lesson: don't blindly click on attachments received with mail or news.
These trojans are distributed by the large hurds of people that think
"aha, an attachment. let's doubleclick on it to see what it is". They
have to be tought to be more wary and practice "safe computing".
