X-BBS-Msg-Type: B
degradation in SNR (counting deviation ratios, comparing signal and
noise power, the degradation would be less than 0.5 dB). So unless you
are operating very close to the threshold, which BTW is unlikely in
non-space communication, I do not see how that BER would increase so
badly.
Of course receiving a 16 kHz NBFM signal on a 200 kHz FM-BC filter
will degrade SNR very much, but I do not think anybody was referring
to such situations.

Subject: PACOMM Packet modems
How do the PACOMM packet modems (e.g. NB96) compare with modems by other
manufacturers?? Are they any good??
Does anyone know whether the PACOMM modems (e.g. NB96) are true TAPR TNC2
clones that can use firmware for TNC2 clones (e.g. 6PACK?) I would like to
use them with FlexNet.

: Yes, they call it "Amateur tcpip".
: Check the TAPR web site for more info.
For more effective jamming... Be sure to utilize all of Charles'
posts over the last 12 months as fodder... (although maybe not...
The entropy is probably a little low... Most of his posts are
redundant...)

Subject: RTTY logging/contest software for KamPlus?
I'm looking for an RTTY logging/contest program that will support the KamPlus
in dual mode (i.e. simultaneous RTTY and packet operation). Does anyone know
if
such a program exists? The WF1B software won't do this.

Subject: TFX & TXPCX WA8DED emulators for KISS modems
I am trying to figure out which is the best program to use TFX28 by DB7KG,
TFPCX210 by DG0FT, TXPCX273 by PE1DNN. There is also a TFPCR??
There are so many versions with similar names by different people! To make
things worse, most of the documentation for these programs is in German!
TFX28, TFPCX210 and TFPCX273 appear to be "the Firmware" emulators which
allow Baycomm or TNC's with KISS mode to run with terminal programs that
support the WA8DED host mode (such as TstHost). These programs would appear
to allow such WA8DED host mode terminal programs to work with KAM's, KPC3's,
PK88's etc. It is a great idea! There are lots of good WA8DED host mode
programs out there!
Does anyone know the differences between these programs?? Which is the
best?? (I have heard that TFX28 implements some modems better than TFPCX)
More importantly, where can I get English documentation (especially for
TFX28 and TFPCX210)??
Are these the latest versions for these programs? If not where can I get
them?
Any help to us poor folks who can't read German would be greatly
appreciated! (Now I know how many Non-English speaking Hams must feel
trying to read English docs!)
One final thing, these programs are DOS based. Are there any Windows
drivers out there that perform the same function (i.e. WA8DED host mode
emulator for KISS modems)

I also just found TFKISS ver 3.0. Another program that appears to also be a
WA8DED emulator for KISS modems (such as KAM, KPC3 etc)
IS this the best DOS based emulator out there??
Is there a good windows based WA8DED host mode emulator for KISS modems??
