that section of 20M is maritime mobile PACTOR links to BBS systems,
for the purpose of sending and receiving internet email.
Probably the best controller for the PACTOR modes is the SCS PTC-II
(also available from PACCOM).

I wish I could -- the sound card is my preferred route. I am already doing
1200 packet (on VHF) and PSK31 and Hellschreiber (on HF) using the sound
card. The only program I've seen which does PACTOR on the sound card
is "PSATOR" for DOS, which only runs on Personal Sound Architecture
sound cards. I use a plain SB16, so I can't use it, and there was no
source code with it.

What do you recommend for AMTOR and PACTOR on the sound card?
thanks

Just checked http://www.muenster.de/~welp/sb.htm and there were a couple of
DOS programs for PACTOR.
Anyone know of PACTOR software for windows?
Any other SB digital software for windows not listed on that site?

I don't think Paccom makes their Pactor-II controller any more. If
you find a used one run away fast! They have some bugs that Paccom
cannot (or will not) correct and there is no guarantee that they will
be compatible with the newer SCS firmware upgrades.

I'm using an SCS PTC-II here so I'm not qualified to recommend
anything for the sound card. I do know that I've seen sound card
stuff for Amtor and Pactor on the Internet but I believe they were
DOS programs. I doubt that the sound card DSP is fast enough to
handle Pactor-II or Clover processing.

Thanks for the hint.
Am indeed considering a PTC-II in the near future.
