input. I have many times copied stations almost 100% that did not move
the S-meter and were virtually inaudible. PSK31 appears to be rapidly
overtaking RTTY in view of the simplicity of the equipment - none! - and
the vastly enhanced weak-signal capability. A lot of all this is due to
the very narrow operating bandwidth of 31.25 Hz and the superb DSP
performed within the programs.

The interface is extremely simple. The help file with the Windows
PSK31 software (from G3PLX) explains how to connect the transciever
to the sound card. In my case I connect the line in and line out
of my sound card directly into the accessory (1) socket on my ICOM 726.
PTT comes out of the serial port via a transistor.

Bits you need: some cable, some plugs, one resistor, one transistor,
and a bit of soldering work, and you're ready to go.

Your Yaesu should have a suitable accessory or RTTY socket.

Check http://www.cssincorp.com for software for your MFJ box. Rick and the
rest at CSS have a pretty nice selection of terminal softwrae for most
controllers on the market

Actually, for the MFJ-1278 it's pretty hard to beat the software
marketed by MFJ itself (Multicom for Windows). The price is very good
($49.95 if you don't need the cable, $59.95 if you do) and it supports
all the features available on the unit (most software for the 1278 only
supports the tnc features).

The only support we'll have for BLP host for the MFJ 1278 TNC is under 32
bit Windows. For Windows 3.1, MultiComm is a terminal mode only software
product, and is a fine one for that O/S.

Where are we with the program. Well, we found a pretty major problem with
the BLP firmware code and Howie and MFJ are working on fixing it. To
describe the issue, if you issued a command to the TNC in BLP host that
returned more than 300 bytes of information, it would truncate it to 300
bytes. This would cause issues with at least the CSTATUS command and the
DISPLAY command.

Once this issue is fixed, we'll go through the testing cycle and get program
out.

BTW, BLP Host in the TNC is designed ONLY for Packet at this time. There is
no host mode support for the HF modes.
