I have to totally agree with Phil, KA1YIQ about FlexNet. I have been running
FlexNet here for a little over a year now with no problems what so ever. I
first installed it in a computer tied by a wire line to my BBS as a test. As
one of the first stations in the area to start converting to FlexNet one
link
of the WA2FNQ node was switched over. The other links and user port soon
followed never to return to NetRom again. In my opinion, the dynamic routing
features of FlexNet have made quite an improvement in the NY Metro area
network. There is a noticeable speed increase and traffic will always find a
path to flow over. I have seen my node go through several power hits in the
past year and there has never been a problem. FlexNet has always come back
up and running. In fact I have had zero problems with the node since I
converted to FlexNet. FlexNet is a good way to go.

    73 for now. Jerry

The last I heard, they have over 40 nodes upgraded now, and have made good
progress on eliminating the "Internet FWD" problem as well. Bulletins in the
area now travel 8-10 BBS with no LLL FWD, and Intercontinental FWD to/from
the area is via HF.

Bulletins with certain key LLL FWD stations in the R:lines are destroyed and
not passed on into the network. If it gets there, it gets there by Ham
Radio, as much as possible under current conditions.

I though you folks might want to know what the US hams who are doing
something instead of talking about it have been up to.

I think you got the wrong impression from that post about the conversion of
the NEDA (North East Digital Association) network from NetRom to FlexNet.

It's the NEDA guys who did all that work. I may have contributed in a minor
way with the "Americanized" FlexNet articles on my web site, but NEDA has
several in-house FlexNet gurus who are much more knowledgeable than I am.
I'm sure they could have gotten along just as well without my support.
