} But I did do the muting mod which involves simply disconnecting 1 wire.

} It works a treat, the receiver is now MUCH more friendly - I recommend it

} As for the rest of the rig, well it's a cheap desktop, not an Eddystone 840
} or Icom R9000 but at least it's useable, has excellent sensitivity, a ferrite
} bar antenna that works well down to 150KHz. I did a side by side comparison
} with my FT817 (I have increased the FT817's gain recently via the rig's
} engineering menu's) and the little DX394 is only just behind it.

} IF selectivity is a bit wide but I'm not working EME with it.

} Not a bad little rx once the muting mod has been done.

} The DX394 has an audio mute switch making it a good general purpose rx
} when used with an external tx.
