Several weeks ago I purchased a USB to Serial adapter cable in order to
run several accessories and found that my Psion PDA software will
gladly use it whilst my Nokia Data Suite moans about "incorrect uart".

So the big question is...do some adapters have included hardware/software
to pretend to be a real UART so that things run smoothly or what ?

Or just what is it that can be different in different cables/adapters 
that can influence the suitability of such an accessory ?
