With Warren ????? Perchance a slight faux pas there with regard to BIOS
there Ralph, although not with POST? That "blanket agreement" is only half
correct.

It was ? first, and later, myself, who wrote "Basic Input Output System"
my friend. Sadly, NOT Warren, ;(

Warren's description of the POST routine was fine, which is what you may
be in agreement with, but not his explanation of BIOS, which was the main
thrust of my original letter.

My later BULL was a rebuttal of his comment of my "not knowing" the
difference between BIOS and POST and which also gave the meaning of the
acronym POST, (Yes, it is Power On Self Test) which is but a part of the
whole BOOT routine. Warren's assessment of the POST routine and mine do
not differ. However, POST was not the main thrust of the original letter.
The meaning of the acronym BIOS was. I was not in disagreement with
Warren's POST remarks, but had not referred to them as they were not what
was of concern. They merely formed another part of the BIOS routine.

As you quoted at the beginning of your letter....

>BIOS stands for Boot Interval Operationg(sic) System,

Which it does not.

Perhaps Warren has confused yourself?

I learned what it meant nearly 30 years ago and it is hardly pointless as
it is the correct argument I feel. Your sources merely confirm my point.
Not sure WHO is confused now, but it sure ain't myself Hi. ;). Regards.
