This is a reply from Dennis G3TIK. G4YUU sent something similar.
It looks as though my Compaq Deskpro 4000 is a version using a floppy to
access CMOS setup.
After much searching around the shack, I have foun a couple of very old
DOS utilities which enable access to the BIOS and have cured a few things.
E.G. my PC seemed to think it had one 720K floppy. It now is back to
believing it has two 1.44MB. I still have a few other things to correct and
should be able to make up mt own s/w disk.

Many grateful thanks to the above and all the others who made suggestions.

Alll the best. Ian.G0TEZ.

As this isn't a message to Peter, I have included his list in the hope it
might be of help to others. It certainly helped me! Ian.
